When you make a transaction with your AAdvantage® Debit Card, we use Open Banking to ask your linked bank whether you have sufficient funds to cover the transaction. Where your bank shares this information with us, this can include any arranged overdraft available on your account.
If your bank confirms that sufficient funds are available, we can authorise the transaction. However, if your bank does not treat your arranged overdraft as part of your available funds for this purpose, it may return an insufficient funds response and we’ll decline the transaction as a result.
The information available to us depends on the data your bank shares with us through Open Banking, so we may not always be able to take an arranged overdraft into account.
